Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Product Development, the Director of Product Management provides product team direction, develops product briefs and innovation, and assists in developing product strategy in accordance with company policies and procedures. Duties include product line strategy, product development, market research support, and quality support. This position will build a team to work cross-functionally with shared product development services across the Johnson family, both in North America and Asia.Responsibilities

Product Development Strategy:

Work with VP on keeping an updated 3-year product planCoordinate international market requests into future product planProduct Development Support

Provide direction to assist designers and product managers to select the best IDCoordinate with engineering on design and manufacturing considerations of new productsManage Owners Manuals and Assembly GuidesDevelop comprehensive product briefs and new product proposalsManage products through the development process from cradle to graveInnovation

Identify future opportunities two to three years in advanceBring two new concepts a year to the R&D center for further researchMarket Research

Participate in customer sales meetings – retail and direct to consumerConduct store visits to see retail landscape and note changesMeet with marketing to determine product research requests and guidelinesMaintain current competitive landscape analysis for assigned product categoriesQA Support

Coordinate with QA team and Product Safety Committee to note any product quality improvementsImplement noted improvements in PPS and other design documentsAssist in pushing the factory to implement quality improvements related to productMarginal Job Functions

Other projects as needed.Requirements

Education:

BS (business, marketing or related field) requiredMBA a plus; Engineering undergrad is preferredExperience

3 years of product, sales or service experience in the fitness industry required5 or more years of product management in another consumer industry preferredOther Requirements

Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint requiredMS Project preferredDomestic, local and international travel will be required.Understanding of basic biomechanicsBenefits
