The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) was established in 1974 to better respond to the County's need for affordable housing. HOC is authorized to acquire, own, lease, and operate housing; to provide for the construction or renovation of housing; obtain financial assistance from any public or private source to assist its housing activities; and arrange for social services, resident services, and daycare.This position is responsible for monitoring and supervising HOC and non-HOC-owned/managed properties in the Resident accounting and Public Fund departments. Ensure accurate filing of HUD, County and State invoices. Will prepare and analyze financial statements and reports; make recommendations resulting from the analyses; handle multiple ledgers and tasks; prepare information for auditors; manage the preparation of regulatory reports including REAC and single audit; manage the financial statements audits. Will supervise and train staff.Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:Four years of experience as an Accountant with at least one year of supervisory experience.Requires knowledge in a variety of unique and complex accounting areas including AAP (both GASB and FASB) practices and procedures for governmental and non-profit organizations.Education:Graduation from an accredited college or University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related degree.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures related to accounting.Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of governmental laws, rules, and regulations governing accounting activities at HOC.Knowledge of computerized spreadsheets, databases, and computerized accounting systems.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to supervise and train other accounting staff under his/her responsibility.HOC is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
