Position Summary:As a Staff Software Engineer (Back End), you are responsible for developing high-performance and scalable Sam's item services that meet the needs of millions of Sam's Club customers. You will design and develop integrations with next-generation applications built largely on an event-driven platform implemented via a micro-service architecture.About Team:Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, providing our members with high-quality products at prices unrivaled by traditional retail. Our Sam's Item Engineering team works on the NextGen Sam's item initiative by leveraging the Walmart item ecosystem to develop highly scalable microservices.What You'll Do:Design & develop highly scalable services and solve complex software systems problems.Provide technical direction, architecture leadership, and expertise to the team.Lead by example as an exceptional and experienced developer.Drive high visibility projects across the organization.Participate in complex, cross-functional projects by translating requirements into technical solutions, designing robust architectures, writing code, conducting unit testing, and ensuring on-time delivery.What You'll Bring:Hands-on development experience with RESTful Services, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Python, NoSQL, RUST.Working knowledge of cloud technologies such as AZURE, GCP, OpenStack.Experience with distributed technologies (e.g., Solr, Kafka, Mem Cache).Relevant experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, Cassandra).Advanced knowledge of complex software design, distributed system design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.Experience with automated testing and CI/CD processes.Strong expertise in development of scalable cloud-native microservices and APIs.Experience in a 24/7 operations support environment.Experience with distributed version control like Git.Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
