Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene SpecialistNOTE:

This is a full-time employment opportunity (No C2C, subcontractor or 1099 engagements, please.) The candidate

MUST

be a U.S. Citizen and must be able to qualify/hold a Secret clearance. This is a remote opportunity with the future possibility of becoming hybrid - candidate must be local to the DC/MD/VA area (Falls Church VA).

Daily Responsibilities

Serve as SME supporting the Government Program Managers (GPM) for OEH tasks and responsibilities.Recommend, develop, and coordinate new or revised policies, instructions, manuals, and technical documents to support DoD level OEH programs.Generate reports from information databases (i.e., Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System and eDASH) and analyze results to assist PM in assessing OEH program performance.Interpret policy and provide OEH advice to base-level units, MAJCOMs, and DHA as needed.Provide consultation on OEH issues for both in-garrison and deployed forces.Review and assess the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Safety and Occupational Health, The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and the National Academy of Science, proposed regulations, regulatory guides, notices and bulletins for impact/relevance to DAF operations.Review reports, standards, and commentary from the American National Standards Institute, American Industrial Hygiene Association, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, Unified Federal Code, American Society for Testing and Materials, and other organizations for impact/relevance to DAF operations. Maintain professional currency by reading technical literature and attending scientific meetings.Support the Air Force Medical Service and OEH Program Initiatives by preparing draft advocacy documentation for additional program procurement and operations funding.Support managing OEH exposure inquiries and associated subtasks. This task requires communication with other AF, federal agencies, and veterans on health effects information related to the veteran’s potential exposure during their military service.Requirements:

Must be a U.S. Citizen as mandated by our government client.Must be able to qualify/hold a Secret clearance.Must be local to the DC/MD/VA metro area, no convenience travel.7+ years of DoD experience or similar senior-level expertise in strategic planning, social marketing, program development, and evaluation.7+ years of experience in either of the following specialties: Environmental Science; Industrial Hygiene; military Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Readiness; Statistics; Technical writing; or Toxicology training/education.5+ years of experience in the functional knowledge of workflow analysis, business process reengineering, and advisory and assistance services.5+ years of experience in current software programs: Microsoft Office to include Projects, and Internet search browsers/tools.Basic understanding of the USAF and DoD organization and structure.DoD experience or similar expertise in strategic planning, program and policy development and evaluation.Experience in the functional knowledge of workflow analysis, business process reengineering and A&AS.Experience in accomplishing multi-tasks (work, organize, and time management) projects simultaneously.Experience in medical CBRN response and the National Incident Management System (NIMS), or OEH surveillance and Health Risk Assessment.Experience in either of the following specialties: Environmental Science; Industrial Hygiene; Public Health, Medical Counter Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Readiness; Statistics; or Toxicology training/education.Previous experience working at a headquarters level of a military service.Experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and expert written and oral communication skills.BS degree in engineering disciplines, environmental science, or environmental health or 10 years of experience as a Bioenvironmental Engineer (United States Air Force 4B0X1 or equivalent) is required.
