Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:Incumbent analyzes and treats patients with dysfunctions of binocularity and/or ocular motility. Examines patients to diagnose and treat abnormal eye motor movements, partial vision, determination of presence of fusion, triage patients in the absence of the ophthalmologist, supervise first and second year ophthalmology residents and fellows, prepare and conduct training programs for certified orthoptists, develop teaching outlines, plans and instruction procedures, evaluate progress through practical application and tests, organize vision screening in community schools, provide training to local pediatricians interested in learning about orthoptic services, compile data on patients in clinical trials, prepare manuscripts for publications and present design, scope and/or results of research projects, and provide assistance to clinic administrator in the evaluation of clinic technical support staff.

Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of Title 22 and JCAHO standardsFive years of training or experience in orthoptic techniquesCertification as an Orthoptist by American Orthoptist CouncilBilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or VietnameseAbility to instruct others in the use of equipment and performance of procedures
