Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics. Performs general clerical and reception dutes. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and/or third party coverage. Schedules, confirms, and cancels patient appointments. Required Qualifications:Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMust be able to work weekends/holidaysDemonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scannerDemonstrated experience using multi-line telephone systemDemonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrievalDemonstrated effective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as necessaryAbility to make simple calculations and perform simple mathAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemAbility to effectively read, write and speak English

Preferred Qualifications:Must take and successfully pass a standardized assessmentDemonstrated knowledge of medical terminologyDemonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programsDemonstrated experience working with TDS, Signature, IDXDemonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization processDemonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office settingBilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or ChineseBilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese (certain clinics may require this qualification)All final candidates will be required to successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process to comply with the University's cash handling policy
