797895500The Wound Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist acts as a consultant to outpatient, inpatient, resident, primary care, home-based primary care, medical and nursing staff in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and reassessing the care of patients with a variety of wounds and stomas, including but not limited to lower extremity wounds, abdominal stomas, draining wounds, fistula, pressure ulcers, dermal wounds, acute surgical wounds, and incontinence issues.Basic Requirements

English Language Proficiency:

Proficient in basic written and spoken English.Education:

A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a NP or CNS from an accredited nursing school.License and Certification:

Must possess and maintain an active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP/CNS in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.Board Certification:

Must maintain full and current board certification in an area of clinical specialty.Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) has prescriptive authority with a panel of patients. Core functions include:Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic health care problems.Prescribing medication and treatments.Providing quality and standard of care to a population of Veteran patients.Teaching health promotion and disease prevention to patients.Mentoring and precepting students/trainees.Additional duties include:Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care based on age-specific components.Coordinating care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care.Applying the nursing process and care management principles within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting.Demonstrating consistent clinical competence in providing nursing care.Documenting patient findings, assessments, and care provided accurately.Preferred Experience

1-2 years' experience as an APRN (NP/CNS) with Wound and/or Ostomy certification required.Physical Requirements

Moderate lifting (15-44 lbs), use of fingers, both hands required, standing (2 hrs), repeated bending (2-4 hrs), see computer screen, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted).Work Schedule
