JOB CLASSIFICATIONFull / Part-time: Full TimeHours Per Week: 40Location: Dallas, TXJOB SUMMARYThe Portfolio Manager is responsible for assisting Relationship Managers in underwriting and coordinating the closing of complex consumer, residential, equipment, SBA, commercial building, and business loans in compliance with the bank’s lending policies and procedures. The individual holding this position will work credit and collateral exceptions and past dues. The Portfolio Manager will promote business for the bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for additional products and services. This role requires the ability to work on 5-6 new money deals in a fast-paced environment, monitor existing loan portfolio (loan covenants, borrowing base, etc.), and assist with closing new loans.ESSENTIAL DUTIESThe duties listed below are some of the duties that may be assigned and may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.Assist the Commercial Relationship Managers in the day-to-day management of their commercial banking relationships.Duties include leading or assisting the relationship manager with term loan extensions, line of credit renewals, collection of financial information, and exception monitoring and clearing. Work directly with customers to obtain needed information.Credit underwriting, analysis, and evaluation may be required, as directed by or in conjunction with the Regional President or Commercial Relationship Managers.Analyze corporate and individual tax returns/financial statements for liquidity, leverage, and net worth. Determine the credit worthiness of customers by analyzing data and trend information, using a variety of covenant tools to measure performance.Assist the Commercial Relationship Managers in gaining approval for the extension of credit facilities, waivers of certain requirements, restructuring of commercial credits, and other decisions as needed to maintain the credit quality of the commercial portfolio.Prepare and present credit presentations before executive and director loan committees, ensuring adherence to credit policy as well as strict underwriting standards for accuracy, timeliness, and transparency.Analyze under-performing loans and develop action plans to help the customer improve performance.Through close monitoring and management of the performance of the loan portfolio, research and report all aspects of any developing problems to the relationship managers and senior management. Follow-up on delinquent and maturing loans.Assist RM and RP in assuring customer compliance with loan agreements (covenants, reporting, etc.)Review monthly reports to verify the accuracy of risk grades, maturing loans, and problem loans.Review loan documents for accuracy.Coordinate all internal and external audits of the loan portfolio.QUALIFICATIONSThese specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a four-year college or university; 7 -10 years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Direct experience in a commercial banking environment, with specific focus on commercial credit analysis and portfolio management preferred.Demonstrated ability and experience working with lower middle market / middle market C&I companies, PE firms, and family offices preferred.Experience in middle market C&I credit analysis and underwriting, including both asset-based lending and cash flow lending.Experience with syndicated credits preferred.Strong problem-solving skills and judgment.Proficiency in commercial loan documentation.Exhibit strong analytical and collaborative skills to benefit both customers and relationship managers.Willing to work and produce independently and as an effective, enthusiastic member of a team.Demonstrates professionalism, diplomacy, composure, and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations.Strong communication skills, including listening, oral and written presentations.Proficient computer skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Adobe, and D&H Credit Quest or similar credit workflow tool.Outbound calling and regional business travel required.Demonstrates strong ethics and commitment to stated corporate values.EOE/M/F/D/V
