The bronchoscopy technician is an essential team member of the Bronchoscopy Service. The technician is fully responsible for performing all key responsibilities, including setting up equipment prior to procedures, providing local anesthesia to patients, assisting the bronchoscopist with instruments, collecting samples, and cleaning up after procedures. The technician also generates reports, bills, and maintains inventory of all equipment and supplies.The Bronchoscopy Service is part of the Adult Pulmonary Laboratories, CVRI and the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division. It provides equipment, supplies, and trained personnel to assist Pulmonary Attending Physicians and Interventional Pulmonologists during bronchoscopies, which may be part of clinical evaluations, treatments, or research protocols. The service also provides training for medical residents and Pulmonary Fellows.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on factors including work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement will follow the collective bargaining agreement.Salary Range:

$37.74 - $47.11 (Hourly Rate)Department Description

The primary mission of the Cardiovascular Research Institute is to promote fundamental and clinical research on cardiovascular and pulmonary respiratory systems and provide opportunities for postdoctoral training.Required Qualifications

BA/BS in Biological Sciences or applicable natural science major; or two years of college courses in natural sciences plus two years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Prior experience working with extremely ill patients in a hospital or clinic setting.Maintain environmental health and safety training, HIPAA training.Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written).Ability to deal with a variety of people, including extremely ill patients.Ability to multitask.Ability to work closely with other employees.Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and in a team setting.Able to communicate effectively with patients and be sensitive to their needs.Ability to adapt to multiple demands/high volume work environment.Ability to perform local anesthesia to patients.Ability to assist with handling biopsy forceps, brushes, and biopsy needles.Ability to push a heavy cart containing equipment and supplies.Preferred Qualifications
