At Regions, the Corporate Tax Senior Function Manager provides oversight and direction of Regions’ accounting for income taxes and federal income tax compliance and planning functions. This role reports to the Head of Tax and is a key leader responsible for managing financial reporting and federal income tax related matters. Additionally, this role is responsible for the consolidated income tax provision, effective tax rate forecasts, quarterly filings, preparation and review of related financial statement disclosures and all regulatory reporting including stress testing.Primary ResponsibilitiesPartners with the third-party managed services partner to manage and direct all tax managed services:

Manages the transition to the managed services model including development of internal processes, controls and efficienciesOptimizes all resources and processes to ensure that all actions required to provide deliverables are properly planned, executed, and deliveredIdentifies and assists in the implementation of key tax technology initiativesIdentifies opportunities to improve the collection of tax process data needs using automation and analyticsCollaboration to identify, evaluate and implement tax optimization opportunities that align with the company’s business, financial and risk objectives

Manages communications with internal and external auditorsPartners across the corporate tax function and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure compliance, minimize risk, and support business line goals and objectivesWorks closely with cross-functional teams to support business strategies, including mergers and acquisitionsProvides tax technical support to business units with respect to the tax aspects of corporate initiatives, pending acquisitions, dispositions, financings, reorganizations (acquisitive and divisive), restructurings, and joint ventures, with a view to optimize taxesProvides federal tax controversy support as neededMaintains and expands current tax technical knowledge and stays abreast of emerging tax issues and legislative developmentsOversees/conducts research to support taxability determinations and positionsThis position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.This position is incentive eligible.RequirementsMaster’s degree in AccountingTwelve (12) years of experience in corporate tax, accounting for income taxes, tax function transformation, mergers and acquisitionsSkills and CompetenciesAdvanced accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) experience including accounting for acquisitions and divestitures, partnerships, and GAAP accounting method changesAdvanced M&A experience including structuring, tax due diligence and integrationDemonstrated ability to manage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to work in a continuous improvement environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coordinate effectively with various SMEs and communicate tax positions to tax authorities and senior tax leadershipExperience in the implementation of large-scale tax technology transformation and dataSelf-motivated with advanced project management, organizational, and leadership skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to research and resolve complex tax issuesStrong tax technical knowledge with experience covering a broad range of complex and current US and state mattersPosition TypeFull timeCompensation DetailsPay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. $258,390.00 USDIncentive Pay Plans:This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan.
