This position has the opportunity to telework, and the position could be based in one of the Tele-Centers (El Paso, Fort Worth, McAllen, San Antonio) or in Unemployment Insurance Administration and Operational Support (Austin).

You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate must be skilled to perform entry-level to routine (journey-level) data analysis and data research work. Work involves conducting detailed analysis of, and extensive research on, data and providing results. Works under close to moderate supervision, with minimal to limited latitude for using initiative and independent judgment.

You Will Be Trusted To

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and execute routines to UI data using SQL, VB Scripts, and other technologies as necessary.Responsible for the full execution of data conversions, including mapping, extraction, transformation, and validation.Collaborate with project management team, business analysts, and system analysts to analyze and conform data to meet business rule and ensure accuracy of data.Troubleshoot and resolve UI data issues in test and production environments as needed.Tune and optimize database objects, queries, and scripts for speed and efficiency in support of data conversion, conversion utilizes, and various data related projects.Design, implement, and maintain new and existing database objects including table indexes, constraints, stored procedures, and user defined functions in support of data conversion utilities and projects.Conduct audits to validate client informationIdentify, analyze, and assist in executing improvements to any processes and proceduresKeep up to date with technologies and DB conceptsPerform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by managerDesign graphs, forms, charts, and spreadsheets to support and present findingsIdentify, analyze, and interpret trends of patterns of data setsGenerate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on business days activities in addition to ad hoc reportsIdentify and make suggestions for improvement of current processes

You Qualify With

Data Analyst I: High school diploma or equivalent. Coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is preferred.Data Analyst II: High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of full-time experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or reporting work. Each year (30 semester hours) of coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field may be substituted for one year of full-time experience in data analysis, research, compilation, and/or reporting work.

Will work 40 hours a week during hours of operation Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and may involve on call work including nights, holidays and weekends, as needed. May work outside of those hours for special projects, outages, upgrades, or service affecting maintenance. Management will set the schedule. Duties require up to 20% travel within the state of Texas and the ability to lift 25 Lbs. TWC may use all available information, including past unemployment claims, to evaluate an applicant’s suitability for the position. Incomplete applications may not be considered.
