The DepartmentThe Department of Theatre Arts & Dance offers students a home where they can develop their potential and find their voices as artists and innovators through rigorous coursework, and collaborative making and production of live performance. The Department is committed to recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

Duties of the PositionThe successful candidate may teach courses in at least one of the following areas: African Dance Forms, Ballet, Contemporary Dance Forms, Hip Hop Dance Forms, Jazz Dance Forms, Folklorico, Tap, Choreography, Dance History, Global Perspectives in Dance, Dance Ensemble and Production, Teaching Methodologies, Anatomy for the Dancer, and/or Dance and Theatre-based General Education courses. The position requires the successful candidate to be on campus and to teach in person; design the class (consistent with approved curriculum); teach fully independently; grade students; and be available for office hours and fulfill standard SSU teaching duties.

Professional QualificationsTo be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Dance or Theatre Arts or appropriate professional experience in Dance. An MFA in Dance is desirable, and at least 2-3 years of experience teaching dance at the undergraduate level are preferred.
