Job Overview:

The Energy Advisor will work with multiple stakeholders to assist FirstService Energy and FirstService Residential continue to provide our value-added and professional energy management services to our managed clients. This role will report to the President of FirstService Energy and build upon the energy program established in other states & and provinces. This individual will work directly and indirectly with building staff, board members/trustees, and property managers to advise on strategies to reduce energy consumption, utility costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.

FirstService Energy is the trusted energy advisor and affiliate company of FirstService Residential. FirstService Energy offers customized and cost-effective efficiency solutions, energy purchasing programs, data services, and more to reduce the carbon emissions, compliance requirements, and operating costs of properties managed by FirstService Residential.

As more states, cities, and provinces are enacting legislation to control energy emissions from buildings, it is critical that our management team and clients have a resource they can turn to that will help them through this process. This individual will be responsible for setting up programs that will help our clients reduce carbon and costs in the FirstService Residential Texas Region.

Your Responsibilities:

Serve as the regional subject matter expert for energy and climate related questions.Meet regularly with management teams to review their portfolio of buildings and provide recommendations on ways to reduce energy, carbon, and costs.Set-up local vendor relationships to assist our managed buildings with energy project implementation.Perform building walk-throughs as needed and present client deliverables including Energy Opportunity Reports.Partner with municipalities and local NGO’s to further network within the region for FirstService Energy and FirstService Residential.Meet financial target requirement for advisory services in your region.Assist FirstService Residential with new business meetings/pitches as requested.Attend board meetings as requested (often at night and in-person) to review/pitch energy offerings.Create target lists of buildings based on high energy spend and/or energy usage and actively work with them to provide services.Assist with building typology information knowledge for analysis, cataloging, and benchmarking.Develop high ROI/prescriptive measure programs for the region that will help drive energy reduction.Represent FirstService Energy at local industry related events.Provide ad-hoc assistance/guidance for energy and building operation needs to our management teams.Assist and attend special internal and external events as needed.Assist and provide subject matter expertise on special projects or program development.Lead educational events in the region on carbon reduction, technologies, local ordinances, energy purchasing at least 4 times a year.Assist the procurement team with procurement sales in the market.Assist the benchmarking/data teams as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Sustainability, or another related field;5+ years’ experience working in building operations, sustainability, energy auditing/consulting;Able to work in person out of our Dallas/Fort Worth, TX office 3 days per week. The other 2 days the associate will have the option to work remotely (based on performance);Able to travel to buildings in the region as needed to conduct field work and attend meetings (Dallas, Austin, Houston)Must be familiar with all elements of building mechanical systems (cooling, heating, DHW & distribution systems);Must be available to attend evening board meetings and special events after 5:00 pm;Must have strong verbal and written communication skills;Must be able to stand for 2+ hours at a time as needed;Must be physically able to climb ladders and walk interior and exterior buildings spaces;Strong working knowledge of building science theory, engineering, multifamily operations and maintenance.

The following are preferred qualifications but not required;

Energy Related Certifications: BPI, LEED O&M, Gpro Certification, CEMEnergy and Project Management Related Software's: EnergyCap, Tableau, ClickUp, Monday’sProperty Management experience

Passionate about the environment and reducing energy/carbon from buildings.Have an entrepreneurial spiritExperienced in energy management and carbon reduction strategies in multifamily/condominium/high-rise buildings.Have strong interpersonal skills in order to build great relationships with internal and external individuals/teamsThrive on finding solutions and presenting ideas.Able to interpret energy utility data and calculate energy/carbon savings.Have experience with multifamily/condominium/high-rise building mechanical systems (heating, cooling, domestic hot water, terminal units etc.)Have worked with and/or have knowledge of utility and state incentive programs.Have knowledge of local energy regulations and ordinances in your region.Have knowledge of electric vehicles & charging technology.Are comfortable presenting technical energy information in-person and virtually to varied audiences including; external client board members, internal associates, and public stakeholders.Able to work independently and in a team to accomplish goals/targets.Open minded which allows you to embrace a culture of continuous learning and sharing of ideas.

Compensation:

$100000 - $130000 / year
