This role involves representing public school districts and other educational institutions in various legal areas, including labor and employment, governance, administrative law, real estate, construction, business issues, and student issues such as civil rights, constitutional law, and disability law.Duties
Represent public school districts and other educational institutions in legal matters.Handle labor and employment issues, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.Advise on governance matters, including the Open Meetings Act and Inspection of Public Records Act.Provide legal support in administrative law, real estate, and construction matters.Address business issues and student-related legal concerns, including civil rights, constitutional law, and disability law.Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and other legal documents.Participate in public speaking engagements and provide training to clients.Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop legal strategies.Attend meetings, hearings, and court proceedings as required.Requirements
Licensed to practice law in the state of New Mexico.1-3 years of experience as an attorney.Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Excellent research and writing skills.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with clients and colleagues.Public speaking experience is preferred.Experience working with school districts or other governmental entities is preferred.Education
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Certifications
Active bar license in New Mexico.Skills
Strong legal research and writing abilities.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.Public speaking and presentation skills.Interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Proficiency in legal research databases and software.
