1Job Description:SUMMARYCoordinates activities pertaining to academic advisement, placement testing/assessment, academic support for the assigned Program or Department at both CMSD grant-approved schools and at the College.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCoordinates instructional delivery system and documentation procedures for participant attendance and academic progress.Coordinates graduation ceremonies and assists in coordinating cultural/educational enrichment activities for participants.Administers various academic remedial Math, English, Science, and/or computer technology courses and study skills workshops.Provides timely and accurate reports to the Director.Provides staff with timely feedback about participant’s progress.Administers educational testing services to participants.Coordinates assessment testing, weekly academic tutoring sessions, makes monthly contact with participants, and monitors transcripts/grade reports.May provide functional supervision to part-time Instructional Assistants under the supervision of the Director.May assist with the Director with hiring, training, and evaluating instructional assistants.Assists in the recruitment and selection of participants.Coordinates preparing & distributing progress reports.Attends meetings, workshops and conferences for professional development.Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGBachelor’s degree in a related field (Significant related experience may substitute for education).Minimum of three years of demonstrated academic experience working directly with students from various social and economic backgrounds.Demonstrated experience with curriculum and instruction at the post-secondary level.Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team.Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIESAbility and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed.Possess strong organizational and time-management skills.Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Possess excellent proofreading and editing skills.Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively.Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail.Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments.Possess working knowledge of disadvantaged student support concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations.Demonstrated basic project management skills.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality.Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population.COMPETENCIESCRITICAL COMPETENCIESService FocusCommunicationsQuality of WorkVERY IMPORTANT COMPETENCIESCollaborationAdaptabilityIMPORTANT COMPETENCIESTime UtilizationContinuous ImprovementPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAININGMaster’s degree in a related field.Minimum of two years of direct experience in a related program at a higher education institution.Demonstrated experience with needs and academic assessments.Demonstrated supervisory experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIESPossess strong organizational and time-management skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS(The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
