Job Description:Reports to the Upward Bound Director and is responsible for the day-to-day functions relating to the Upward Bound Program. This is a professional position requiring higher level thinking skills and responsible decision-making. Assist with coordination and management of the program by providing academic support services to high school first-generation/low-income students in Terrebonne Parish. Recruiting, selecting, and enrolling eligible students and implementing program services during the Academic Year and Summer Program with Individualized Student Success Plans are primary functions. Routine travel required; must have valid driver's license and vehicle.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate and attend weekly in-school visit meetings with students that focus on personal development, career exploration, academic skill building and college preparation.

Coordinate and attend programs/activities for all Upward Bound Students including college trips, cultural events and community service.

Provide and supervise program tutorial activities and workshops.

Assist in the development, planning and implementation of student program services.

Monitor student progress and advise the Director and Academic Specialist on interventions for students.

Evaluate the needs, interests, abilities, achievements, and aptitudes of program participants; making recommendations to assist the college in fulfilling its obligation to participating students.

Work collaboratively with target high school staff and community constituents to provide coordinated educational services.

Review academic admission requirements at colleges and ensure that enrolling students have met these requirements.

Maintain student application files, communicate with students and parents to encourage timely fulfillment of admissions process, and process all related admissions paperwork.

Maintain documentation and mandated Department of Education reporting requirements on the programs BLUMEN database.

Track student contacts to monitor services required and providing follow-up throughout program participation.

Evaluate program initiatives and make changes if needed.

Assist in the preparation and submittal of the Annual Performance Report.

Assist in the coordination and management of all aspects of Upward Bound Program.

Serve as a resource person to staff, students, partner organizations, and the community.

Attend conferences, workshops, program training, and staff/committee meetings as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education, or related subject area is required; 1 year of experience.

Specific Experience -

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Minimum Certifications/Licenses:

Valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students. Strong public relations and interpersonal skills; proficient in student records database software; willing to work under pressure, including time and budget restraints.

Additional Requirements:

Vehicle Operation - University employees whose principal responsibilities of employment include operating a vehicle, performing maintenance on a vehicle, or supervising any public employee who operates or maintains a vehicle and positions with an expectation to travel will require an MVR and are subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

Minor Contact - This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.

The salary range is $37,655-$45,186.
