Job Description:The Controls and Energy Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the university’s energy management and building automation systems (BAS). This role includes supervising a team of control technicians, managing the campus-wide METASYS system, and ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency of HVAC and related systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy management, controls systems, and team leadership.

Job Duties:

Supervision and Leadership:

Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of control technicians, ensuring high performance and professional development.

Plan and allocate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide feedback and training as needed. -30%

System Management:

Oversee the operation and maintenance of the university’s METASYS system and other building automation systems.

Ensure all control systems are functioning correctly and efficiently, performing regular inspections and updates. -20%

Energy Management:

Develop and implement energy conservation measures to optimize energy use across campus facilities.

Monitor and analyze energy usage data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with other departments to promote and implement energy-saving initiatives. -15%

Project Management:

Plan and execute control system upgrades and installations, coordinating with contractors and other stakeholders.

Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion. -15%

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all systems comply with relevant codes, standards, and university policies.

Maintain documentation and records of all systems, inspections, and maintenance activities.

Promote a culture of safety within the team and ensure all safety protocols are followed. -10%

Technical Support:

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for control systems and energy management issues.

Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying knowledge to improve system performance.

Other duties as assigned -10%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

Degree substitute: Energy Management or related field

5 years of experience in a related field

Minimum Licenses/Certifications:

A valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree with 5 years of related experience and some supervisory experience

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with University PS-18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report to or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, be capable of stooping, kneeling, or crouching; able to reach and/or climb a ladder, climb stairs, and bend their back. At times, position could be subject to outside environmental conditions. Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
