Job Description

The position is responsible for developing, marketing, and underwriting of US Property Treaty business. While the skillful underwriting of a program is paramount, the candidate should be also be a team player, willing to contribute to the larger goals of the team. As such, the candidate needs effective communication and project management skills, working with external and internal stakeholders (clients, brokers, SCOR teams, claims, actuarial, legal, strategy and senior management).

We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable with open-ended challenges where the candidate can succinctly and confidently recommend solutions knowing that the process to solutions is as important as the outcome. The candidate will be expected to assume client management responsibilities which requires strong communication skills and engagement across supporting functions and lines of business.

This position will be based in a SCOR office, either Chicago or New York City and the candidate is expected to be in office several days per week. Responsibilities

Underwriting
o Evaluate new and renewal property treaty reinsurance programs
o Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions hat support SCOR appetite
o Evaluate and negotiate contract wording
o Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuarial & modeler support
o Monitor & adhere to cat capacity aggregations and allocations
o Perform underwriting audits for current and potential clients
o Discuss underwriting and management issues with executives at primary insurance client companies
o Work with Client Managers to support management of client relationships
o Actively monitor market trends and engage in strategic discussions with internal and external parties.
o Actively participate and contribute to internal projects.

Marketing
o Attend marketing visits to broker offices and establish marketing presence
o Identify clients that align with SCOR's appetite and are additive to the overall portfolio
o Identify brokers that handle accounts that fit the SCOR underwriting targets
o Attend industry conventions to promote SCOR and develop business relationships

Account Management
o Work collaboratively with all internal parties to manage individual deals and overall client relationships
o Diligently maintain all documentation for assigned accounts as per SCOR guidelines
o Understand and adhere to SCOR underwriting and pricing guidelines

Qualifications

Required experience & competencies
• Minimum of 4-6 years of prior reinsurance underwriting/reinsurance broking experience or minimum of 7-10 years of primary underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of property (re)insurance market
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time and dedicate a considerable amount of time to develop broker and client relationships
• Positive attitude and a wiliness to contribute and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Expertise in Cat XL underwriting a plus
• Strong Microsoft office skills, particularly excel
• Working knowledge of Salesforce and Tableau a plus
• Working knowledge of RMS and/or AIR a plus
• Willingness to work collaboratively and mentor rising star talent

Required Education
College degree or equivalent work experience.

"In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or range thereof, for roles that will be performed in New York. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $245k-$275k salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time.
