Job Summary:

The Enterprise Architect delivers as a thought leader and visionary. You'll find yourself delivering standards, patterns, and designs to First Horizon's technology organization, as well as diligent engagement with stakeholders and business leaders! Your scope of influence will include but is not limited to stability, observability, portability, SDLC management, producing strategic roadmaps and solution designs that align to business strategies. You will join the frontline in ensuring we can meet the bank's business needs while producing a modern, digital stack.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage solution design from conception to delivery
  • Collaboratively manage a playbook of patterns, standards, and principles that guide the Architecture COP (Center of Practice) and its operations
  • Collaboratively manage a catalog of business applications, capabilities, and other attributes and designations as benefit a holistic, enriched purview of the Enterprise's technology landscape for executive leadership
  • Guide and mentor other architects
  • Primarily responsible for producing architecture documentation for business applications as assigned and as projects and programs of work dictate
  • Partners with line of business, delivery teams, Solution Architects and SMEs to produce and refine technical requirements
  • Designs both the components and interactions of solution architectures that will deliver intended business outcomes
  • Collaborates with architects in other domains (Data, Security, Infra, Cloud, DevOps) to produce consensus and governance
  • Leads solution design workshops and emerging technology POC workshops
  • Validates 3rd Party/Vendor Solutions and help author RFx content
  • Aligns Information Technology strategy and planning with the company's business goals and objectives
  • Promotes the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve how information flows
  • Collaborates on roadmaps to align information technology priorities with business partner requirements and strategies
  • Builds and maintains technical trusted advisor relationships with influential technical decision makers within Technology
  • Works with developers to ensure that technical solutions align with the overall Information Technology architecture frameworks and design guidelines
  • Works with Portfolio technology leaders to include technical debt initiatives to portfolio roadmap
  • Provides consultation on complex projects

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • (Preferred) Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • (5+) years of solutions architecture experience
  • (10+) years of application development or software engineering experience
  • Experience with n-tier application architecture and cloud native solution architecture
  • Experience with technical documentation like interaction diagrams, process diagrams, network topologies and other architectural content
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methods
  • Experience with TOGAF or BIAN Frameworks

Certifications/Licensures
  • (Preferred) AWS Certified Solution Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Skills And Competencies
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • An understanding of, and ability to use, design patterns to steer business requirements into enterprise wide technical strategies
  • Awareness and ability to document designs using internal and external notational standards (Business Process Model and Notation {BPMN}, Unified Modeling Language {UML})
  • Hands-on-the-keyboard depth of knowledge in one or more popular programming languages like Java, Go, C#, Python, Typescript, etc.
  • Knowledge of application security design principles and techniques
  • Understanding the technology of the organization, e.g. Middleware, .NET, Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Oracle, etc.
  • Working knowledge of modern Operating Systems (Linux/Windows), Networking, Servers/Mainframe, Secure Coding Practices, Development Environments (Java/.Net), Databases (DB2/Oracle/SQL Server)
  • Understanding of public cloud (AWS, Azure) services and platforms like API Gateways, Serverless, Virtual Private Networks, Elastic RDBMS, NoSQL, Key Managers, Load Balancers, Blob Stores, Indexing Services, etc.
  • Kubernetes & Docker
  • Experience with Queueing/Streaming platforms like Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.
