Job Description:

This Position will be responsible for performing functional analysis and testing tasks or programming and debugging tasks of complex information technology (IT) systems. This position will support SDMI's Information Technology, and GIS programs. This position will be responsible for enhancing SDMI's storm surge, flooding, and consequence model.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide program support to all ongoing and future GIS initiatives managed by SDMI. Support the conception and design of map-based web interactives. Design and develop map applications using the ArcGIS JavaScript API. Establish and coordinate a sharing platform and resource center for ArcGIS content. (30%)

Assess new software and hardware technologies; design processes and may provide technical guidance for the purpose of technology integration into client networks. Provide guidance in the use of new hardware or software to clients and/or staff. (25%)

Assist with integrating all geographic requirements into current and future projects. Serve as a GIS support element to augment existing GIS capabilities within the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute. Coordinate with team members in expanding SDMI's current GIS capabilities. (20%)

Gathers and verifies field data for utilization in mapping applications, 911 systems, and other parties who have an interest in accurate location of address points and other point features. Collect, process and correct data from the field. Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data and determine the best way to display the information using GIS. (20%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience working in GIS, information technology, Experience with Adobe Flex and/or Microsoft Silverlight, Python, ArcGIS, AGO, and ESRI Story Maps. Must be proficient in STEP, WEBCASS, NetDMR, and Microsoft SharePoint.

Physical Demands:

Physical ability and eye-hand coordination necessary to use a computer terminal, copier, telephone and other standard office equipment; ability to sit in the same position for extended periods (5.5+ hours a day) at a time using continuous hand motions when entering data into the computer system.
