Tetra Tech is seeking a GIS Analyst to join our team in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, or remotely. We are seeking a positive, self-starting individual with excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills that will demonstrate an ability to work on highly dynamic and interactive projects both independently and as part of a team. This individual should have a strong technical background in GIS, data management, and a general understand of, and interest in, environmental modeling.
The successful candidate will work with a growing project team and offer GIS support for a variety of projects related to inland, coastal, and offshore ocean science, modeling, and data management.

Your Role:
GIS data creation- digitization, conversion of non-spatial data, editing, and standardization/compilationGIS data management - organize and structure spatial data files on servers and in various database types, and maintain data versioning as neededCreate and maintain ESRI map/feature services in support of ocean use planning and other initiativesQA/QC both geospatial and tabular dataIntegrate geospatial environmental data and numerical models by researching, gathering, and preparing input data for use in modeling softwareConvert and integrate gridded and vector data from various sources as model inputsUse/enhance/develop tools to analyze, interpret, and present model resultsPrepare report quality figures/maps of model inputs and resultsPerform modeling studies using proprietary model softwarePrepare technical reportsQualifications:
Graduate degree in a field such as GIS, engineering, oceanography, biology, or other environmental science with at least 1 year of relevant professional GIS experience, OR undergraduate degree and at least 3 years of relevant professional GIS experience (consulting experience preferred)Proficient with ESRI ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Desktop (10.x), Pro, and extensions such as Spatial AnalystFamiliar with standard GIS formats: ESRI shapefiles, geodatabases, various raster formatsExperience in the creation of GIS data, data management, and QA/QCCartographic experience including the design of maps for reports, the web, posters, etc.Basic GIS Programming/Scripting experience in Python - ability to read and make modifications to existing scriptsStrong problem solving, organizational, and time management skillsAbility to function as a contributing team member and independently when neededHigh attention to detail requiredEffective technical writing skills and clear verbal communication skillsProficiency with MS Office SuiteExperience or demonstrated understanding of environmental modeling and the application of quantitative analyses to solve environmental problems associated with contaminants in terrestrial, aquatic, and/or atmospheric ecosystems preferredProgramming/Scripting proficiency in Python, SQL, Fortran, C# .Net, and/or Java script preferred
