Innovation.Job Description:SUMMARYThe Associate Dean of Instruction & Learning/Curriculum, Assessment, & Compliance reports directly to the Vice President for Instruction & Learning and provides leadership, supervision, and support for the academic services and programs that promote the College's mission and institutional goals. As part of the academic leadership of the college, the Associate Dean contributes and actively engages in strategies aimed at advancing diversity, equity, and social justice in education. This position's portfolio broadly focuses on curriculum development, quality assurance and improvement, compliance with regulatory statutes and the College's agents of accreditation and licensing, and workforce education.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESServe as college liaison to and resident expert on matters related to institution and program accreditations, assessment, and compliance (e.g., SUNY, NYSED, MSCHE, ACEN, etc.);Create, update, and submit compliance materials to regulatory agents that accredit or license the College and its curricular offerings;Collaborate with Institutional Research to provide leadership in areas of program development and academic innovation (e.g., eLearning; career and technical education; apprenticeships; diversity, equity, and inclusion; micro-credentials; etc.) to ensure the College's offerings serve its multiple constituents and communities;Ensure records and timetables to meet accreditation and licensing requirements are accurate and maintained;Collaborate with appropriate governance bodies and instructional leaders to maintain program review standards and records;Work with Department Chairs, Program Chairs, and faculty on all curriculum matters including program review, program development, program modifications, Extended Course Outlines (EXOs), and articulations;Facilitate I&L collaboration and participation within shared governance processes around curriculum and assessment;Supervise the Documentation Specialist;Supervise the annual creation and maintenance of the college academic Catalog;Supervise the Faculty Assessment Leader and provide guidance, support, and feedback on assessment processes and products;Collaborate with Department Chairs and Program Chairs to implement the Academic Assessment Plan;Supervise the Director of Workforce Education & Development;Foster policies and processes that embrace workforce and work-based education and create pathways that bridge credit-free and credit-bearing learning experiences;Serve on the Department Affairs Council, the Program Chairs Council, the Curriculum Committee, the Administrative Staff Council, and other committees as assigned;Oversee the campus process for the SUNY Chancellor's Awards;Serve as the Instruction & Learning liaison to support student and faculty interests in auxiliary services such as the campus bookstore;Perform other duties and related work as assigned by the Vice President for Instruction & Learning.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESProven ability in supervising and leading teams and staff development initiatives;Excellent computer skills, including a high level of proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications;Concern for student needs in a demanding academic context, as well as flexibility, patience, and professional integrity;Demonstrated ability to work with and support a diverse population of students, instructors, and staff;Success at managing a wide array of projects and initiatives and ability to work in a fast-paced work environment;Excellent interpersonal communication and project management skills.Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in Education or related field;5+ years in higher education, including successful college teaching and/or progressive administrative experience;Demonstrated experience with the assessment and accreditation of academic programs;Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a community college;Demonstrated interpersonal, communications, and organizational skills - a record of leadership and initiative, and of working collaboratively and effectively with diverse persons and interests;Demonstrated experience working with a diverse student population and proven understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in a higher education environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working at a community college;Experience with workforce education;A commitment to diversity and an understanding how diversity impacts learning and instruction;Experience and familiarity with a learning management system (LMS), such as Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle;Experience and familiarity with higher education enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as Banner or PeopleSoft.Additional Information:The Associate Dean of Instruction & Learning/Curriculum, Assessment, & Compliance is a full-time, permanent position.WORKING CONDITIONSThe performance of this work is primarily in-person and on-site.Flexible hours are required.Some travel will be necessary.CLASSIFICATION / SALARYClass: Management ConfidentialAll applicants are subject to a background check to include criminal, employment, and education.Dutchess Community College is an AA/EOE employer.
