This privacy expert will play a key role in scaling and driving privacy and data law strategy into a global market-leading business in video games, digital entertainment, and technology; work on pioneering technologies such as interactive entertainment, content streaming, and virtual reality; and counsel product teams on the development of the PlayStation Network (including its social network, music, movie, game streaming, and other elements), a platform of over 100 million users worldwide.The candidate profile:You are intellectually curious about the legal and policy issues emerging from information science and technology developments.You don’t mind getting into the details (and hopefully enjoy) determining how data is a part of everything these days.You consider implementation as important as conception and measure your own success by how well your work product optimally mitigates risk while minimizing negative impact to the user experience.What you’ll be doing:Lead a team of privacy legal experts advising the business across the Americas region.Partner with SIE Global Privacy Team to help develop and scale SIE global privacy program.Partner closely with SIE cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Engineering, Infosec, IT, and Marketing), internal stakeholders and legal specialists to solve challenging privacy and data issues while providing exceptional entertainment experiences to our customers.Stay current on evolving data protection and privacy laws, developments, breach notification laws and frameworks as well as other laws with an impact on the processing of personal information in the United States and provide practical and strategic advice to the business.Review/draft a variety of privacy agreements, including data processing agreements.Develop and provide privacy training to other legal and business partners.Review business activities that collect, use, share, or dispose of data for compliance with law, policy, and best practices.Advise on all aspects of privacy laws and regulations, including data protection, data security, and data breach rules. Represent SIE in interfacing with and influencing privacy regulators and policymakers.Draft consumer notices, agreements and contract terms, and negotiate data- and privacy-related contract provisions.Develop standardized policies, tools and processes, and implement them (in conjunction with Information Security, Data Governance, and other stakeholders) into operations to mitigate data processing legal risks and help the business scale.Develop and lead trainings for the business.What we are looking for:Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent international degree.Membership in a state bar required (California, preferred), and eligibility for and acceptance as California Registered In-House Counsel.Minimum 10+ years of relevant privacy experience, including prior in-house and law firm experience.Experience with European and UK privacy law preferred (but not essential).Familiarity with social privacy issues (friends, family, identity), the characteristics of data/information and its lifecycle, data governance and emerging digital technologies, including AI technologies.Excellent collaboration skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.Enjoy getting your hands dirty to solve complex data challenges.Consider implementation as important as ideation and measure your success by how well you enabled a superior customer experience while effectively mitigating risk.Ability to work across teams (including in matrix) and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.*PlayStation offers a global hybrid office/remote working model — Flex Modes — which aims to combine the flexibility of remote working with the magic of in-person collaboration.
