Position DescriptionThe Data Scientist will play a vital role in identifying and developing the best possible sites to provide low-carbon power to data centers and other large electric loads. The role will identify, quality control, and integrate large data sets at the intersection of the real estate, electricity, and digital infrastructure industries. The Data Scientist, collaborating closely with the Company’s development and GIS team, will then use this data to produce actionable recommendations and insights.
The Data Scientist will report to the Chief Technical Officer. It is a full time position that may require occasional travel. Key Job Responsibilities
Demonstrated experience innovating and extracting insights from multiple data types including unstructured data
Identify opportunities for innovation and lead strategic initiatives to enhance the company's data science capabilities
Develop and apply custom models and algorithms to extract meaningful insights on markets, project locations, economics and strategies
Conduct defined quantitative and/or qualitative research projects independently
Prepare and maintain documentation for analytic models
Collaborate with the company’s development, GIS, and finance teams to identify, prioritize and evaluate markets and sites
Support scalable land acquisition offers and efforts
Monitor competitive landscape based on the maintained datasets and update findings
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Build an industry-leading siting methodology and analytical tools
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, applied mathematics or a related field
Strong working knowledge of multiple analytic development tools, statistical tools, and programming languages
Familiarity with geospatial datasets, GIS data and mapping applications (or a strong willingness to learn) is preferred
Effective communication skills and excellent collaborative can-do attitude
