As a Senior SQL Server Engineer, You Will:
- Provide Managed SQL Engineering Services including the following database support activities
- Perform manual builds that cannot be built through the client's automation
- Install featured software/database components
- Implement and configure environments for disaster recovery and high availability
- Deploy project-related support during project lifecycle
- Provide ongoing Data Definition Language ("DDL"), Data Manipulation Language ("DML"), and Data Control Language ("DCL") changes
- Move data between environments on an ad hoc basis
- Participate in testing customer applications as support during specific project phases
- Support Business Recovery Testing ("BRT") and Technical Readiness Testing ("TRT") activities
- Update technical readiness checklists in response to environmental configuration changes
- Fulfill standard requests to build new SQL databases and adding supporting components
- Fulfill standard change requests to configure existing SQL databases or add supporting components to them
- Create new or maintain existing SQL database standards, patterns, and stacks
- Provide support for PaaS or cloud hosted SQL database workloads
- Perform research and maintain database technology roadmaps
- Coordinate with other areas to plan and execute database refresh activities driven by established roadmaps
- Test database patches as per schedule or ad hoc as needed
- Develop and test scripts for deploying new patches
- Provide incident management support, including participation in the client's post-incident Problem Quality Assurance Review ("PQAR") and Proactive Problem Management processes
- Serve as liaison with SQL database vendors as needed for incident resolution escalation
- Provide problem management support, including contributing to Root Cause Analysis ("RCA") and After Action Review ("AAR") documentation, and the subsequent action items associated with those documents
- Remediate or document nonstandard configurations
- Develop technical solutions for vulnerability alerts
- Analyze and develop or identify short term and long term solution compliance enforcement mechanisms
- Process Improvements and Automation
- Identify and assess current manual processes associated with or necessary to support SQL databases Develop process improvements or technical solutions to automate eligible manual tasks
To Be Successful, You Need:
- Bachelor's degree and eight (8) or more years of SQL Server Database administration and development experience
- Strong experience with SQL Server 2014
- Experience with PostgresSQL and Terraform required
- Experience performing manual builds that cannot be built through the client's automation
- Experience installing featured software/database components
- Experience implementing and configuring environments for disaster recovery and high availability
- Experience deploying project-related support during project lifecycle
- Experience providing ongoing Data Definition Language ("DDL"), Data Manipulation Language ("DML"), and Data Control Language ("DCL") changes
- Experience moving data between environments on an ad hoc basis
- Experience with migrating data from a legacy database to SQL 2014
- Experience with Ansible and Gitlab preferred
