Toxic-Free Future (TFF) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated person to join our growing team of organizers, scientists, and advocates protecting the health of people and the planet from toxic pollution.The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for networking, relationship building, and raising funds primarily from high-net-worth individuals and organizations. This position will develop and manage a portfolio of existing donors and prospects, support the program staff and board of directors in fundraising, and work closely with the Executive Director.This position reports to the Executive Director and works with other members of the development, communications, and leadership team.ABOUT TOXIC-FREE FUTUREToxic-Free Future (TFF) is a leading national environmental health organization that uses the power of science, education, and activism, to drive strong laws and corporate responsibility that protect the health of all people and the planet. TFF has a 40-plus year track record of impact and has offices in Seattle, Washington, DC, and New York state.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIdentify, cultivate, and solicit major donor prospects for significant contributions to Toxic-Free Future using a relationship-based approach to fundraising.Work closely with the Executive Director, TFF Board, and Program Directors to manage prospect assignments, record contacts, and prepare board members and staff with training, materials, and strategies necessary to be successful.Lead the design of the major gifts campaign, coordinating the development of materials, meetings, and events (e.g. donor-hosted house parties).Lead the effort to develop and maintain community partnerships with businesses, organizations, and individuals.Organize or facilitate solicitation meetings with prospects, working closely with the Executive Director, Board, and other staff.Maintain accurate and timely records/contact reports of all interactions with donors utilizing Salesforce software.Oversee implementation of stewardship and recognition for all major donors.Participate in regular staff, development, and Board of Director meetings.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of three years of non-profit fundraising experience and success with developing relationships and meeting financial goals.Experience fundraising preferably for an advocacy-focused non-profit organization.Superb written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.Ability to effectively absorb and gain a strong command of TFF issues, campaigns, and priorities as well as its programs, with demonstrated ability to articulate TFF’s work to individual donors and how they can contribute to the organization’s success.Establish and maintain effective collaborative working relationships internally and externally with respect and empathy.Project a professional presence and conduct relationships in an ethical manner with a high degree of tact, sensitivity, confidentiality, and respect.Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent administrative skills and a proven track record of meeting deadlines.Ability to plan 12-18 months in advance as well as work collaboratively to implement that plan to meet fundraising goals.Proficiency in Salesforce fundraising software and tools (e.g. Action Network), and with general computer software including MS Office Suite, Zoom, and database programs such as Salesforce.Comfort in a teleworking environment.Proven track record as a self-starter, working independently, ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects, and drive innovative solutions.A demonstrated commitment to social equity and racial justice and an eagerness to understand how these issues play out in communities impacted by toxic chemical exposures.Curiosity and joy in learning, with a collaborative spirit that seeks to listen, give, and receive feedback thoughtfully, and continually grow and improve.COMPENSATIONThis is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary is $90,000-$100,000 annually, depending upon skills and experience.
