Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking Development team, reporting to the Director, Principal & Major Gifts. The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 125 major gift prospects and donors including the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and prospects giving $10,000+ and multiyear gifts of $75,000+. This role is also responsible for building and advancing relationships that lead to the strategic solicitation of donors for gifts that reach full philanthropic capacity.Who You Are:To excel in this position, you will need to approach the work with the following habits and values:

Treating donors as valuable partners engaged in lifting community-led solutions.Believing in Trust-Based Philanthropy as a successful model for advancing solutions to root causes of hunger.Aligning the mission of the organization and the values of the donor, resulting in six figure gifts as regular practice.Solicitation takes place in the context of an authentic relationship and is regularly increasing the investment of the donor in the mission.Communicating the mission, vision, and Strategic plan of the organization with passion and clarity.Interacting with donors, volunteers, colleagues, board, and executives at the highest level.Understanding of the role of Development and Major Giving Program within the context of a nonprofit organization.Reporting regularly on relationships with a clear sense of long-term strategy for the donor.What You Would Be Accountable for:The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:

Devising and implementing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies tailored to each donor.Completing 75 face-to-face meetings with donors each year.Developing, writing, and presenting proposals that align the needs of San Francisco-Marin Food Bank with donor intent and capacity.Leveraging volunteer opportunities, site visits, special events, and donor benefits as cultivation and engagement tools.Developing expert familiarity with programmatic offerings; maintaining current knowledge of key developments in Food Bank programming and advocacy efforts as they occur.Representing the Food Bank at external functions and events.Regularly updating proposals, tracking Moves Management activity and documenting long-term strategy using Raiser’s Edge. Collaborating with Development Operations team on research and regular pipeline management.Collaborating with Stewardship team to tailor stewardship opportunities to each donor or prospect relationship.Engaging Executive Suite, Board Members, Director of Principal & Major Gifts, program staff and volunteers in fundraising efforts, as appropriate.Participating in advancing all Development team priorities forward including special events, corporate & foundation giving, planned giving, and volunteer recruitment.Other duties as assigned.What You Would Be Doing Right Now:

Increasing the number of face-to-face meetings your portfolio receives on a yearly basis.Communicating opportunities to support community-identified solutions to solving hunger to donors with regularity.Attending cultivation and stewardship events in small salons, larger key events, and One Big Table, our annual gala.Collaborating with colleagues on the team to develop creative solutions, tailor communications, and lift one another up.Key Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree required.Understanding of the role of Development and Major Giving Program within the context of a nonprofit organization.Strong track record of success managing and growing a portfolio of five-six figure donors.Successful track record of interacting with donors, volunteers, colleagues, board, and executives at the highest level.A minimum of six years of experience in fundraising; experience in individual giving, annual fund program, or role with frontline fundraising preferred.Previous experience in Raiser’s Edge preferred or knowledge of similar CRM tools.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is set in an office environment. This position is set in a standard office environment with occasional travel to program sites. Driver’s License preferred as may be traveling between Marin and San Francisco.SALARY:The position is Full Time. The starting salary for this position ranges from $99,603.44 to $104,074.65 per year, with exact salary depending on experience.BENEFITS:All positions are offered generous holiday and sick time as well as retirement savings.
