This position provides support to the Controller in providing continuous leadership and guidance in matters relating to the financial operation of the hotel by assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, overseeing daily operation of the Accounting Department activities and internal control procedures designed to safeguard owners/investors assets and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, Local regulations. Additional responsibilities include staffing, training, scheduling of employees; planning, organizing, directing and coordinating inter and intra department activities to ensure efficient Financial Operations.
Duties and Supporting Responsibilities
To direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of all financial controls and accounting procedures, based upon a maximization of internal control techniques consistent with MOHG established policy and generally accepted accounting principles, as adapted to any local legal requirements.
Together with the Director of Finance, play an active role in the management of the hotel and will exercise a responsive attitude to the needs of the General Manager and other members of the hotel management team
To be actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.
To manage on behalf of the Director of Finance the statutory accounts requirement and the relationship with external auditors.
To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Director of Finance or General Manager.
To manage, supervise and support all subordinate colleagues, with a view to optimizing the profitability of the hotel and improving the guest experience.
Posting of activity to the general ledger, including monthly accruals
Research and correct discrepancies
Work directly with Department Heads to assure accurate inventory and actively participate in the monthly inventory process and perform spot checks
Assist in the preparation and completion of the reconciliation of all accounts
Review and update daily Bank activity
Assist in the training of new department members
Take initiative to identify problem areas and provide suggestions for improvement
Support the Dir. of finance in managing the Finance office with various daily duties
Actively participate in the month end closing by preparing journal entries as directed by the Director of Finance
Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements
Oversee Income Audit and daily IA duties
Oversee General Cashier and daily cashiering duties
Update subsidiary ledger for prepaid, inventory, utilities etc
Assist in preparation and implementation on Policies and Procedures
Additional duties as developed, directed or assigned
Sustains performance.
Confident with customers.
Organizational Structure
The Assistant Director of Finance will report directly to the Director of Finance. The functional positions of Accounting Manager, General Accountant, Income Auditor, Accounts Receivable, Account Payable and Payroll Master will report into the Assistant Director of Finance.
Requirements
Mandatory
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality Management
Two to five years Assistant Controller/Controller Experience in Hospitality Accounting operations
Prolific in all Windows Based Software Application
Strong Level of Proficiency in Excel
Ability to assemble, analyze, understand integrated spread sheets and complex technical information
Prioritization skills necessary to meet deadlines
Effective management, leadership, organizational and communications skills
Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
