By emphasizing cutting-edge and transformational research along with a commitment to the success of all students, UIC embodies the dynamic, vibrant and engaged urban university.Description:A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Coloff in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Coloff Lab studies the unique metabolic phenotypes found in tumors with the goal of identifying new strategies of targeting metabolism for cancer therapy. Current projects include developing methods of targeting serine metabolism in cancer and understanding how nutrients are utilized by cancer cells to promote therapeutic resistance. We are seeking creative, independent scientists with experience in any area of metabolism research, but those with experience in lipid metabolism are especially encouraged to apply.Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Principal Investigator and other lab members to meet research objectivesCollect, analyze, and interpret dataMaintain lab notebook and keep strong scientific recordsPublish original scientific research in peer-reviewed journalsPresent research findings at national/international scientific conferencesOther duties as assignedQualifications:Minimum QualificationsMust have a PhD/Doctorate Degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology, or other related biomedical science fields.The University of Illinois System is an equal opportunity employer, including but not limited to disability and/or veteran status, and complies with all applicable state and federal employment mandates.
