Payroll and Disbursement AnalystJob Description Summary

The Payroll and Disbursement Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payrolls using the Workday system and is the primary contact for payroll inquiries. The role requires exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills to provide customer service support, as it pertains to employee pay data.

Essential Duties

Perform a variety of complex duties in the preparation of two biweekly and one monthly payroll under strict deadlines.

Calculate and track amounts to be paid for employees on leaves.

Review payroll results and evaluate for data integrity and identify inconsistencies and resolve issues.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others to effectively respond to questions from employees regarding payroll, direct deposit and/or general payroll questions with limited supervision and appropriate discretion.

Knowledge of all current payroll laws, regulations, labor union standards to ensure compliance.

Stay up-to-date on developments and changes to Federal and State tax laws to ensure compliance.

Troubleshoot system issues as well as problems with tax deductions, leaves, vacation and sick accruals, and other payroll-related matters by researching, reviewing with the payroll team, and responding accordingly.

Assist with updates to systems and processes when new rules and regulations are implemented.

Review and process travel expense reporting to ensure all expenses are allowable by University Travel Policy and properly substantiated as required by the IRS.

Prepare detail schedules for both internal and external audits as needed.

Prepare ad-hoc reporting requests for payroll data.

Perform special projects as assigned, such as improving processes and procedures, and periodic updates to Payroll related forms, employee handbooks and operations manuals.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED with 3-5 years of payroll administration experience is required with demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of payroll-related issues.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities efficiently.

Comprehensive knowledge of internal controls standards and financial reporting.

Precise attention to detail and a willingness to provide a high level of customer service, internally and externally.

Must possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive, professional, and courteous manner with individuals at all levels throughout the institution.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Workday experience highly preferred.

Work Environment

Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work.

Ability to travel around campus for meetings and other work-related events.
