About the Position:We are working with an international Am Law 100 firm that has an immediate need for a tax lawyer to join in its Chicago office as a Counsel in the Nonprofit & Tax-Exempt Organizations practice. This practice is nationally ranked by Legal 500 United States and represents a broad range of nonprofits, tax-exempt, and charitable organizations, including foundations, universities and other educational institutions, hospital and health care organizations, medical research organizations, museums, trade associations, and churches and religious institutions.Highlights:· Highly competitive compensation· Nationally-ranked practice· Opportunity to participate in all aspects of the practice and receive significant responsibility early onResponsibilities:· Provide comprehensive advice to nonprofits, tax-exempt, and charitable organizations including organizational, compliance, planning, governance, reporting and tax issues affecting these entities· Counsel clients on issues involving fundraising and developmentRequired Qualifications:· Significant experience representing a variety of nonprofits, tax-exempt, and charitable organizations· Experience working with charitable institutions and high net worth donors on structuring planned gifts to charitable organizations· Strong knowledge of compliance with federal tax law applicable to charitable and other tax-exempt organizations, as well as governance, endowment and investment matters, and federal tax rules relating to private foundations· Excellent academic credentialsLocation:Chicago (Hybrid)Position Type
