Job Purpose
The Sr. Director of Business Development is a leadership position requiring a driven, self-starter with a passion for the Solar Industry, desiring to help take a fast-growing Solar Development firm to regional prominence. With support from sales operations and marketing, the Sr. Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing a robust “funnel” of active opportunities that facilitates meeting the company’s annual sales objectives. The position is located in the Massachusetts geographic market and is focused on C&I clients and/or public and not-for-profit organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate new solar PV and energy storage business opportunities within both the public and C&I sectors to build a sales opportunity funnel that ensures exceeding annual sales quota year over year.
Present solar incentives, solar/storage technology, and energy models with key decision makers. Become a trusted advisor with “C” level decision makers and gain “preferred” status for Solect.
Sign Power Purchase, Bill Credit Offtake, and Site Control Agreements with clients.
Build upon your local network to create new opportunities and develop new channel partners to accelerate business growth.
Team with the sales operations team on marketing campaigns and new lead generation.
Engagement with the internal Solect team throughout the sales cycle for design, engineering, proposal development, and contract support to close new business.
Diligently maintain the status and metrics of all project opportunities in Salesforce.com.
Post-installation follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction, generating additional projects with and from the customer.
Desired Skills & Experience
Self-starter: energetic, positive, and enthusiastic. This is a “hunter” role responsible for originating and closing new project contracts with end customers and property owners.
5+ years selling and/or developing projects in the Commercial Solar Industry.
Financial Acumen: comprehensive understanding of finance concepts – Payback, Depreciation, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) - and how they apply to “C-level” financial decision makers.
Previous experience working with public and private sector customers.
Strong local network with the ability to access “C-level” key financial decision makers.
Collaborative style with internal and external customers.
A technical background in electrical power is a plus.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
Highly ethical, professional, and a commitment to team success.
Experience working in Microsoft, Salesforce, and Google applications.
