Director of Facilities and Safety

to begin August 15, 2024.

CalWest Required Qualifications

A

Bachelor’s Degree

and/or other educational requirements listed on the job description

Requisite skills commensurate with the position

A reasonable commuting distance to the CalWest client school, or a willingness to relocate

Authorization to live and work in the United States

Client School Preferred Qualifications

Five years of proven facilities management experience

Bachelor’s degree

Five years of construction and project management experience

Operational knowledge of Google Suite, MSWord, MSExcel, and/or the school's work order system

Credential in Facilities management such as CFM or CEM, preferred

5 years of experience directly managing staff

Experience working in a school setting, preferred

Bilingual in Spanish, preferred

Responsibilities

Manage all facilities and grounds maintenance and enhancement on both campuses including fire protection, security, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, custodial, landscape, hardscape, hazardous waste streams, utilities, kitchen equipment, emergency systems, van shuttle fleets, and structures.

Manage the work order system to ensure work orders are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner; creates work orders and ensures work order progress and status updates are communicated to requestors timely. Performs completion of work orders as needed.

Plan, forecast and execute deferred maintenance through continual strategic prioritization.

Oversee summer maintenance, construction, preventative maintenance, repairs, cleaning, vehicles, and capital projects.

Supervise and oversee outsourced maintenance services such as janitorial, pest control, vending, landscaping and HVAC.

Manage and evaluate all facilities-related service agreements.

Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions by outside vendors.

Periodically review and renegotiate vendor contracts including RFPs for new contracts. Obtain multiple vendor quotes for capital and deferred maintenance projects ensuring cost effectiveness and quality control.

Work closely with the CFOO on budgeting, planning, and scheduling of maintenance and capital expenditures; manages assigned budgets and provides analysis as needed.

Obtain bids and finalize contracts for all capital facilities projects.

Develop work schedules for outside vendors so as to not interfere with the educational program.

In coordination with the CFOO, develop and coordinate safety and emergency action programs and procedures.

Coordinate with the Director of Operations and local first responders on routine Emergency Drills.

Lead Facilities, ERT, and Security teams in the event of an emergency.

Oversee van driver training for all personnel.

Oversee key issuance policies and coordinate with the Director of Operations as needed on key distribution.

Ensure compliance with governmental physical plant-related requirements such as fire protection, ADA regulations, and elevator mechanics.

Salary Range$ 120,000 - $ 160,000
