Function:Reporting to the Radiology Supervisor, the Radiology/Mammography Technologist will perform all digital x-ray and mammography examinations as assigned. This individual will have the working knowledge of all facets of digital x-ray and mammography.Representative Duties:Performs X-rays and screening mammogram studies as assignedGreet each client with a smile and welcoming, professional mannerCalls patients from the lobby into the exam roomUnderstands and maintains universal precautions in all clinical activitiesEnsures readiness of assigned unit for patient encountersDisinfects exam rooms daily and after contamination of communicable disease exposure with appropriate cleaning agent, or insures that this is doneStocks exam rooms with supplies and equipmentMaintains equipment in good working orderAlerts Radiology Supervisor of broken equipmentAlerts Radiology Supervisor when stock inventory is lowEffectively communicates with patients and coworkers on the medical team, in the medical department and across departmentsConfirms demographic information before conducting exam or scan; accurately records and enters any changes receivedAbides by recognized ALARA & HIPAA requirementsDemonstrates a commitment to customer servicesAssists in training other employees in the medical support departmentRemains familiar with emergency procedures and codesReceives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters and clinic businessReads and maintains departmental policies and proceduresProvides clerical support and administrative assistance as directedDemonstrates competency in alphabetizing, filing, faxing and other duties to support administrative office needsAssists the Radiology Supervisor with Quality Control projectsMeets Agency Participatory ExpectationSuggests and participates in continuing quality improvement effortsAdheres to all agency and departmental policies and proceduresParticipates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requestedAdheres to the highest principles of patient and client confidentialityAdheres to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situationAttends all required meetings, in-services and professional trainingsAttends all regularly scheduled research meetings, trainings, forums and pertinent FCH staff meetingsMaintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activitiesServes on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested.Performs other related duties as requiredRequirementsLicense/Certifications: Massachusetts RT license, Massachusetts Mammography License, current standing with ARRT, BLS certificationEducation: Associate degree in Radiologic Technology with certification in mammographyMaintains CEU accreditation as needed for licensureDemonstrates competency in EMR and Microsoft OutlookAbility to work as part of a multidisciplinary teamExperience working with an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse environmentAbility to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.Willingness to contribute towards Fenway’s efforts in becoming an anti-racist organization and promoting a culture dedicated to ongoing development in service of humility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, where differences are acknowledged and valued.Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years’ experienceExperience with patients with HIV and electronic medical recordsInterest and experience in LGBT health and commitment to community healthWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsOSHA category 1Physical Requirements: regularly required – sitting; using hands to manipulate objects/tools/controls; reaching with hands and arms; standing and adjusting patient positioning; talking; hearing; occasional lifting required up to 25 lbs.Noise level: usually quietLGBTQIA+ identified persons, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC), and individuals from other historically underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.This is a union position in a Fenway Health bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
