Description: As the key technical lead for NPD as well as sustaining Engineering projects, the Project Engineer will be responsible for the overall engineering, design, and development of complete products and sub-assemblies. The PE will use his/her technical background and expertise to manage other internal and external resources to create and validate new designs and solve technical problems. This role requires cross-functional and collaborative work across multiple disciplines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop 3D CAD design and 2D drawings for new designs and improvements to current designs. Prototype fabrication and evaluation. Partake in and lead design reviews and FMEA's. Maintain and manage the use of controlled files in a PDM software (BOM's, CAD, testing documentation, reports, SOPs, etc.). Develop and document test procedures, execute testing following quality standards, and report results. Work with cross-functional teams (Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Sales, etc.) and participate in collaborative meetings between China and USA teams. Perform root cause analysis, identification, and implementation of corrective actions. Update project tracking documents and provide progress reports to management. Conduct research for continual improvements and testing methods per Warranty/Market as well incorporating feedback from product marketing. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or commensurate experience required. - 3 years of relevant product engineering experience in plastics and injection molded part designs. - Prior work experience with high-volume manufacturing and assembly, preferably in Asia and/or Mexico. - Working experience of electrical or electronic field is a plus (schematics, circuitry, analog/digital). - Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge of common high-volume products such as Power tools, Appliances, or Industrial equipment is a plus. - Proficient in SolidWorks or other CAD software is a must. - Understanding of QCQA testing and inspections. - Self-motivated and self-directed with strong time management skills. - Agile and highly flexible to support a demanding industry with ability to handle multiple projects. - Data-driven with excellent problem-solving skills. - Detail-oriented, organized and disciplined with files and data handling. - Demonstrated leadership qualities with ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and global partners. - Proactive self-starter that takes initiative with ability to work independently. - Must be personable with excellent communication and listening skills. - Strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility, and ownership. - Capable of working efficiently and savvy with technology, including MS Office and PDM/PLM software. - Assembly fixture, mold and tool design experience is highly desirable.
