A terminal degree in a relevant field is required.Position Summary
As the research capacity of UGA continues to grow, UGA will increasingly have opportunities to partner with federal mission agencies and industry in applied and fundamental research. The Director of the UGA Research Institute (UGARI) will be responsible for the strategic vision of the institute, including activities in funding development, project capture and execution, staffing, resource allocation, and fostering relationships with mission-driven agencies.Additional Requirements
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in securing funding and managing research initiatives in the U.S. defense and global security sectors.Required Skills:
Ability to obtain or currently hold a DoD Top-Secret or DOE Q Clearance.Proven track record in project and budget management.Strong leadership and personnel management skills.Expertise in the federal budgetary process and its application to research funding.
Duties/Responsibilities
Funding DevelopmentConducts monthly review of potential funding opportunities.Travels to Washington, DC as needed to support discussions with funding agencies.Works with UGA leadership to develop sustainable models for cost-sharing.CoordinationServes as direct liaison between UGARI and university administrators.Engages with the Battel Savannah River Alliance for collaborative research.SupervisionServes as direct supervisor for all UGARI Associate Directors and Program Managers.AdministrationOrganizes and schedules quarterly meetings with the UGARI Steering Committee.Applicant Documents
