Director, Infection Prevention and ControlDescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE:The Director of Infection Prevention and Control, under the direction of VP of Quality and Patient Safety, provides leadership, direction, scientific knowledge and expertise in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. This position drives the operation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program and Services to ensure patient safety, alignment with strategic goals, and compliance with State and Federal regulatory and accreditation mandates.Supervision: (Reporting Relations) Vice President Quality and Patient Safety(Direct Supervision) Manager, Infection Prevention and Control

QualificationsPOSTION REQUIREMENTS:A. Education1. Master’s degree preferred2. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is requiredB. Experience1. Minimum of 7 years of acute clinical experience, 5 of which are in infection prevention and control.2. More than 5 years of progressive administrative leadership experience in infection prevention, surveillance, control, and improvement in an integrated, tertiary health care setting with demonstrated ability in policy development, and its implementation.3. More than 5 years of experience in healthcare infection prevention, control and improvement.4. At least 2 years of experience using electronic data systems and data analysis in support of infection prevention, control, and improvement activities, as well as in meeting regulatory and national data reporting demands.C. Knowledge/Skills:1. Expert knowledge of infection surveillance, prevention and control practices, processes, systems, standards and regulations.2. Sophisticated knowledge of infection-related quality metrics, and the process for national measure development through CDC, NQF, AHRQ, etc.3. Demonstrates a high level of understanding of infection data reporting requirement mandated by CMS, The Joint Commission, NHSN, and other agencies.4. Knowledge of epidemiologic methods, including those related to the investigation of outbreaks, and a general working knowledge of biostatistics.5. Demonstrates knowledge in fundamental quality improvement theories and application of quality improvement tools.6. Knowledge and experience with common data analytic programs.7. Comfort and effectiveness with formal and informal presentations to internal and external stakeholders.8. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, appropriate prioritization and time management skills, and independent decision-making skills.9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.10. Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationship skills.
