The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Southern California (USC Norris) was founded in 1971 and has been continuously funded as an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1973. USC Norris has a rich tradition of collaborative research and serves as a major regional and national resource for cancer research, prevention, treatment, and education.
The PI of the lab is Dr. Michael R. Lieber with 50 years of experience in biochemistry and molecular biology. The Lieber lab is focused on understanding DNA damage and DNA repair in humans as these relate to cancer, aging, and the immune system.
Job Accountabilities:
Experiments are focused on questions specified in Dr. Liebers grants, including studies of DNA repair proteins and enzymes. The person hired will need to express proteins in human cell lines, purify proteins, and document their status (purity and activity). The person hired will be expected to design and carry out experiments that test ideas in the grants. The person hired will be expected to design and construct protein expression vectors for expression in mammalian and insect cells, as well as in E. coli. Successful Candidates Must Demonstrate:
Practical skills in laboratory research in a biochemical and molecular biology lab. The annual base salary range for this position is $62,400.00 - $64,480.08. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations. Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within previous five years Minimum Experience: 0-1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, and analysis methods.
