The Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing and managing inspection and remedial engineering projects, as well as the Traffic Engineering Remedial Program of Structures (TERPS) across the state within the Traffic Engineering Design Division (TEDD). This position involves supervising a team of licensed and/or non-licensed engineers or consultants. Key responsibilities of this role will include the following: developing infrastructure asset inventory for transportation ancillary structures; conducting various types of inspections (acceptance, routine, in-depth, impact, and nondestructive tests); performing structural analysis; coordinating routine and preventive maintenance; and overseeing the design and management of remedial projects for Traffic Control Device (TCD) and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) structures statewide. The Team Leader will also manage the budget and expenditure of TERPS.This position also serves as a technical expert in developing and updating TCD remedial engineering standards and procedures statewide and collaborates with the TEDD Structural Engineering Team to develop and update structural engineering design guidelines, standards, and specifications. Furthermore, the Team Leader will provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers within the administration and management of the statewide database system containing TCD and ITS structures.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.Experience:

One (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.Selective Qualification:

Bachelor of science degree in civil or structural engineering and one (1) year of experience in the design and management of structural remedial engineering or structural inspection.Preferred Qualification:The ideal candidate should have the following:Supervision or management experience in remedial or inspection projects, or traffic engineering related projectsProgram management related experience including setting up priorities, developing project scope and schedule, and managing program budgetExperience using an asset management/maintenance systemProficient in conditional and emergency inspection of TCD/ITS structures and providing Quality Assurance/Program Coordinator (QA/PC) reviews for inspectionsProficient in TCD/ITS structures repair and rehabilitation serviceExpert knowledge of professional transportation structural engineering principles, federal/state traffic engineering regulations, policies, standards, and guidelinesExpert knowledge of standards and specification for construction and materials used for traffic control devicesExcellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsTeam management skillsCandidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.TO APPLY:
