Essential Job Functions

Systems Support• Provide first level support for the computer users as it relates to the IT infrastructure technologies, work with clients to determine details related to the request, determine root cause of the issue, communicate this to the client, and correct the issue in a timely manner, liaising with support vendors as required• Perform testing and regular servicing of equipment and software• Create and maintain documentation• Orient users to new systems or software applications, as requiredSystems Deployments• Perform setups of new equipment and/or software and upgrades to existing systems• Carry out all technologies’ requests with focus on security, business continuity, and performance• Plan and execute hardware refresh activities• Work with Sleeman/outside consultants/vendors as required• Support new project initiatives ensuring all assigned activities are completed as per the project plansInfrastructure Maintenance• Monitor server vital signs, including event logs, free disk space, and backup jobs to identify issues and trends• Report Server/Network issues to other System Administrators and assist where required• Maintain infrastructure documentation, including port maps and static IPs• Assist other System Administrators when required with operating system upgrades, software upgrades/installation, applying Microsoft patches, anti-virus updates, physical assistance when required• Assist with server/storage/network/hardware lease rollovers• Assist Management with special projects and documentation, as requiredAdministrative• Provide periodic task status updates to the team• Enter all issues/tasks assigned into the Issue Tracking System and keep status up to date• Practice effective communication to user community• Ensure all solutions are documentedEducation & Experience• Post-secondary education in Computer Science or related field• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Systems Administrator in a corporate environment• Working towards technical certification (e.g., Microsoft, A+) would be considered an asset• Good organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize work and meet deadlines• Effective written and verbal communication skills• Logical and detail oriented• Good problem solving and analytical skills to determine and resolve issues effectively• Acceptable criminal check• Ability to support and project values compatible with the organization
