For a complete description of our benefits for this position, please visit our website.The Department of Emergency Medicine within the University of Washington’s School of Medicine (SoM) has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director within the Michael K. Copass, MD Paramedic Training Program (PMT). The PMT involves a dynamic environment and is hosted at Harborview Medical Center (HMC) and by the Seattle Fire Department (SFD). The objective of PMT is to educate and train paramedic students to attain advanced knowledge, experience, and skills to evaluate and effectively treat medical emergencies in the pre-hospital setting.RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategic Leadership (45%):

Independently lead the creation of strategic, operational, and business plans for PMT sub-units.Navigate complex healthcare systems to identify key contacts and stakeholders.Lead Program space-related planning and associated projects.Continuously improve Program operations by identifying process issues and executing solutions.

Operations and Planning Management (45%):

Oversee administration, organization, and supervision of the educational program.Quality review and improvement of the educational program.Coordination of paramedic student progress and promotions.Development and management of the Program budget and finances.Lead team of administrative staff members.

Teaching and Direct Student Support (10%):

Regularly teach courses to PMT students.Teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support to King County Paramedics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:• Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare area, public administration, or a closely related field and a minimum of ten years’ applicable work experience with a minimum of five years’ experience as a field paramedic.• Emergency Medicine Service training credentials.• Paramedic certification (Washington state and/or National Registry) current within the last five years.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Knowledgeable about methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students.Field experience in out-of-hospital emergency care delivery.Knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards.DESIRED:Fire service-based EMS experience.Current NREMT certification or certification as Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic.Experience with CAAHEP and JRC accreditation compliance.Curriculum development experience.Application Process:
