We do this by implementing, managing and maintaining services such as Internet connectivity, Wi-Fi throughout campus and high speed connectivity to support research.In addition, members of the Berkeley IT community have created and endorse the following values for our organization to augment and amplify the campus principles:We champion diversity.We act with integrity.We deliver.We innovate.Application Review DateThe First Review Date for this job is: July 9, 2024ResponsibilitiesApplies IT concepts to perform complex analysis and take a lead role in the design, specification and installation of distribution and access electronics (switches). Evaluates, tests and deploys new or enhanced electronics and services.Fulfill complex end user service requests and support installation services as necessary.Serves as a member of the network incident response team responsible for general network problem determination and resolution during normal business hours. Troubleshoots complex issues in distribution and access networks and electronics. Works directly with vendor/manufacturer technical support to isolate and resolve hardware and software issues.Coordinates all phases of multiple, complex network projects: planning, design, procurement, implementation and documentation. Consults with users/departments to determine communication needs. Implements related business processes.Participates in the development and testing of complex network diagnostic tools and applications.Identifies and selects training opportunities for professional development. Participates in cross-functional group discussions, activities and efforts.Required QualificationsDemonstrated thorough knowledge of professional communications and network concepts necessary to resolve issues using established parameters, creativity and independent judgment, escalating as necessary.Thorough understanding of various network hardware platforms, network related protocols and software including understanding of OSI layer 3 protocols at a basic level and layer 2 protocols at a complex level and related technical standards critical to the operation of interconnected networks.In-depth experience with network diagnostic and performance management tools and software.Thorough and broad knowledge and experience working with network management systems.Ability to gather, organize and analyze data in the completion of a variety of functional assignments.Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.Demonstrated diverse problem-solving skills.Experience in the deployment and maintenance of common campus switching platforms (E.G. Cisco, Juniper, Arista).Knowledge of and experience with LAN Technologies (E.G. Spanning tree, LACP, 802.1q, LLDP, PoE).Knowledge of and experience with TCP/IP Network configuration and technologies (IPv4, OSPF, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, VRFs).Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Unix based computer systems.Salary & BenefitsThis is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for full UC Benefits.For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's

$88,900-$126,400.
