Opportunity for Adult Congenital Heart Disease Cardiologist with Carilion Clinic – Roanoke, VA
The Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute in Roanoke, Virginia seeks to recruit a Board Eligible or Board Certified Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist to help expand our service for patients with congenital heart disease. The successful applicant would have additional certification with Adult Cardiovascular Disease with training in Internal Medicine, although we would also consider training in Pediatric Cardiology as well (with joint appointment in the Department of Pediatrics).
The primary site of practice would be Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, our 703 bed Level 1 Trauma/Academic/Tertiary Care Center serving nearly one million in southwestern Virginia. The office practice is located in a newly renovated medical office building within walking distance of the hospital. The Adult Cardiology section is comprised of 34 cardiologists supported by state-of-the-art advanced technologies and by a large primary care and specialty referral base.
Responsibilities:
Office and hospital-based care of ACHD patients, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Providing education to our general, interventional, and structural fellows.
Developing a vision for growth of the program.
Engaging in research initiatives with Carilion Clinic, the adjacent Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, and nearby Virginia Tech (in Blacksburg, VA).
The applicant would have an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, located on the Roanoke Campus with additional opportunities for research and medical student education.
Carilion Clinic’s Cardiovascular Institute
will expand significantly over the next seven years with the organization investing over $1 billion on capital improvements, including $200 million to equip the new Crystal Spring Tower dedicated to providing care for emergency and heart patients as well as behavioral health.
