The Town of Burlington seeks qualified candidates interested in the position of Senior Planner and becoming a part of our talented planning department. Working directly under the Planning Director, the Senior Planner manages the land use permitting program and assists the Director with all long-range planning initiatives. Specifically, the Senior Planner will:Oversee the review process for Site Plans, Subdivisions, Special Permits and related matters;Supervise the Planner/Development Coordinator and Assistant Planner regarding matters of permitting;Manage and assist in long-range planning efforts and special projects of the department;Communicate with consultants;Assist in the preparation of grant applications and occasionally provide support to other land use committees of Town Meeting.The successful candidate will be a dynamic and motivated professional who enjoys working with a team of planners, enjoys public service and who has the capacity to build trust, excellent communication skills, honesty, flexibility, and a proven ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, or other planning related field, and 4 years professional planning experience; a minimum of 2 years municipal planning experience preferred.Experience with managing permitting workflows and preparing permitting decisions.Ability to communicate effectively with the public and experience with public meetings.Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems and cloud-based permitting software.Pay range starts at $73,668 to a max rate of $100,447. Starting rate is competitive and dependent upon experience.
