Certified Surgical Tech - OrthopedicsFort Worth, TXFull Time: 40 hours per weekRotating day offCall required evenings, nights, and weekendsMinimum Requirements:High School Graduate or GED.Graduate of an accredited CST program or received education through on-the-job training prior to September 2010.Certified Surgical Tech (CST)Must obtain CPR within 30 days.1 year scrubbing experience preferred in orthopedic surgery including sports medicine, spine, hand, & pain management; podiatry, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery.Minimum Skill Requirements:Positive attitude with positive interpersonal communication.Team player.Flexible with sound critical thinking skills.In-depth knowledge and disciplined application of aseptic technique, and AORN and AST recommended practices.Job Duties / Responsibilities:Sets up, scrubs and runs mayo for surgical procedures. Assists surgeon by draping patient, passing instruments and suture; maintains correct sponge and instrument count.Prepares operative tissue specimens, places in preservative communicating to the circulating nurse the name and the origination of the specimen, may transport to lab.Requires knowledge of orthopedic, general, GYN, ENT and urological surgical procedures and physicians’ preferences.Provides care for the surgical patient by preparing necessary supplies, equipment and instrumentation needed for the surgical procedure by using physician preference cards.Requires knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic technique, AORN standards, department and hospital policies and procedures.Complies with established department, hospital and system policies.Requires attendance at mandatory in-services and staff meetings.Requires ability to recognize and develop action plans to achieve goals.This position may be required to perform additional duties that are temporary in nature due to business needs.Perform other duties as assigned.The Ideal Candidate:Candidate will possess an AST or NCCT CST Certification with 1 year of recent Orthopedic work experience.Additional Information
