Reporting directly to an assigned Supervising Engineer. Performs highly advanced transportation, drainage, and land development engineering projects.Performs highly advanced planning, engineering analysis and design of transportation, drainage, and land development projectsAssists with training and development of engineering and planning staff and aids with training materialsAssists with development of Division budgetCompiles statistical data and prepares reports utilizing engineering studiesPerforms highly advanced and complex engineering analysis and design of hydraulic structures and conveyance systemsServes as department liaison for technical concerns for the public, Commissioners Court, contractors and internal and external department and agenciesPrepares transportation engineering plans, specifications & estimates (PS&E)Analyzes and prepares floodplain and detention studiesMonitors and supervises project quality control efforts and deliverables to ensure project is completed efficiently and effectivelyOversees and manages a variety of project budgets, schedules, work plans and resource requirements for various construction projectsAids in the development and implementation of the Williamson County Long Range Transportation PlanOversees the analysis of subdivision plats, construction plans, permits and compliance measures for various Land Development and Road and Bridge projectsAids with the implementation of subdivision regulation amendmentsAssists with coordination of safety projectsPrepares technical correspondence to professional consultants, other governmental entities and the publicReviews Floodplain Development Permits, including interpreting flood studies and determining site-specific flood elevationsResponds to drainage/floodplain complaints and coordinates with public to develop feasible solutions utilizing site visits, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and investigationsCoordinates and prepares documents and updates for engineering meetings and public hearingsPerforms pavement field evaluationsIdentifies potential floodplain violations and collaborates with inspections on resolutionAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to – An Assigned Supervising EngineerDirect Reports – NoPHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting and operating equipmentPosition involves safely operating a motor vehicleENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSIndoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weatherRegular travel between work sitesExposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus and high noise levelsIRREGULAR HOURSWork outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. This job description is subject to change as the needs and requirements of the job change.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldEight (8) years roadway geometric and drainage design experienceKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and engineering development systems and softwareLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSRequiredP.E. (Professional Engineer) LicensureValid Texas driver’s licenseTexas P.E.
