The Department of East Asian Studies at Brown University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer of Korean language,

effective September 1, 2024

. This is a one-year position. The applicant is expected to teach the equivalent of 2 full Korean language courses per semester and work closely with other program faculty for Korea-related events and activities. The Department is interested in qualified candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.Qualifications

An M.A. degree in Korean language and linguistics, language pedagogy, or applied linguistics/second language acquisition or related fields is required. Candidates should have native or near-native fluency in Korean and a strong command of English. Priority will be given to those candidates who have independently taught Korean to English-speaking students at the university level. Applicants should be able to teach Korean at all levels and be versed in a variety of teaching technologies. Candidates are also expected to share Brown’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and demonstrate that commitment in their teaching.Application Instructions
