[University of Maryland, Baltimore County] Lecturer in Korean Language and Culture

The Department of Modern Languages, Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication (MLLI) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full-time lecturer and coordinator in Korean Language and Culture, starting in August 2025. This is a three-year, non-tenure track position, renewable subject to demonstration of excellence in teaching and service. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Korean language courses at all levels and Korean culture courses in English for expanding the Korean language and culture curriculum, and serve as coordinator for the Korean program within MLLI.Qualified candidates should have at least an M.A., with a Ph.D. preferred, in Korean language pedagogy, Korean (applied) linguistics, Korean language and cultural studies, or a closely related field. Candidates should also have full professional proficiency in Korean and English and provide evidence of excellent teaching ability in Korean, preferably with experience teaching a diverse student population at multiple levels of Korean in a university setting. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in developing a robust Korean program curriculum by teaching upper-level Korean culture courses. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with innovative teaching methods and technology and evidence of keeping up with recent developments in the field, as well as experience in supervising other Korean instructors and advising students majoring or minoring in Korean studies.
