Coral Springs MuseumUnder executive direction, the purpose of the position is to perform responsible administrative and professional work in the planning, organization and management of museum programs, activities and special events. Employees in this position are responsible for ensuring a variety of safe, quality educational opportunities are made accessible to the general public. Objective is to ensure a high standard of service, and an enjoyable educational museum experience for visitors. Focus on exhibiting innovative and ethnically diverse Florida, regional, national and international artists and providing eclectic and challenging classes for both children and adults. Continues producing therapeutic art programs for the community. Employee works with a high degree of independence and initiative. Operational direction and administrative supervision is provided by the City Manager (or designee).Examples of Duties:Works in conjunction with Board of Directors and City leadership to develop the strategic direction of the museum.Establishes initiatives to fulfill the mission of the Museum and increase local, statewide, national and international awareness and prominence.Directs the museum’s operations to include development, education and public programming, finance, external communication and staffing.Curates or works closely with curators and installers to establish museum art exhibitions.Works collaboratively with city finance and budget staff to manage the Museum’s financial operations including budget and forecasting, audit and IRS requirements, grant compliance and reporting.Manages and leads the full-time staff, part-time staff, volunteers, and consultants.Leads and participates in all fundraising and development activities, including grant writing.Participates in the development of revenue-generating programs and services.Serves as spokesperson and chief advocate for the Museum. Establishes strong partnerships in the community. Enhances the Museum public image to expand interest and support.Directs the overall development of public relations and marketing initiatives. Develops an effective communication plan to raise the profile of the Museum.Manages, secures and maintains the facilities of the Museum.Oversees the collection management; acquisition, inventory, storage.Maintains Museum standards in alignment with AAM Accreditation requirements.Reports to the senior leadership designee of the City Manager’s Office.Interfacing with City Management, contributing to budget development.Performs related duties as directed.Typical Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in arts, Museum Studies, Non-profit Management, Museum Management or a related field. Seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with non-profit management, arts management and financial, fundraising practices. A combination of education and experience considered. Prior supervisory experience required.
