is currently looking for an

Associate Region Counsel . The right candidate under the direction of the Region Counsel will provide support, assistance, and advice on all region’s legal matters, with an emphasis on land acquisition. This includes reviewing and revising contracts, safety programs, and resolving subcontractor disputes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Provide legal advice related to land acquisition, development, and disposition, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, handling closings, consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessary.Review and revise homebuyer contract documents.Provide advice regarding RESPA issues and other legal matters.Review and revise subcontractor contract documents and handle disputes.Review safety programs, revise manuals and written policies, and handle safety issues including OSHA.Provide advice regarding legal issues in construction and warranty.Coordinate outside counsel as necessary.Review marketing contracts and programs and draft documentation as necessary.Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMay directly supervise one or more employees in the Legal Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.QualificationsEducation and/or ExperienceMust possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and be a licensed attorney.Two to six years of experience.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form or via DRH applications.Proficiency with MS Office and email.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience with corporate or environmental law.Ability to multi-task and attention to detail.Come join a winning team with a Fortune 500 company!
